Hazardous Waste
Lightbulbs can go in the garbage except for compact fluorescent bulbs.
Compact fluorescent bulbs and fluorescent tubes contain a small amount of mercury (about enough to fit on the tip of a ball point pen). Therefore, they must be taken to a retailer that has a 'Take Back' recycling programs for intact bulbs and tubes, or to any one of the City's three Community Recycling Centres (residential loads only). Maximum of 8 fluorescent tubes or bulbs per day.
