Thermostat Recovery Program

The Thermostat Recovery Program (TRP) only accepts electronic, mechanical or mercury-containing end-of-life thermostats used to control heating and cooling systems.

They prefer to receive these devices intact. Refer to the Thermostat Recovery Program link below to find drop-off locations. There is no fee for disposal. For more program information visit www.hrai.ca/trp.

The TRP DOES NOT accept other devices such as thermometers or barometers. Non-functional devices can be disposed of in the garbage if they do not contain mercury. For example, a thermometer containing red liquid is safe to dispose of. If a device contains a silver liquid then it should be taken to a Household Hazardous Waste Depot.
