Hazardous Waste

Unused pills/medication should not be placed in the garbage, instead take to a CRC or pharmacy for safe disposal. Empty hard plastic medicine bottles are not accepted in the recycling program. The bottles and lids should be placed in the garbage.

Medications, needles, and syringes are harmful if not disposed of safely.

Medical sharps must be placed in a plastic or metal container with a lid and marked “syringes” on the exterior.

Bring these items to any participating pharmacy or drop-off location for free as part of the Medications Return Program and Sharps Collection Program. Learn about the program and find a drop-off location.

Other products such as paint, pesticides, motor oil, batteries and smoke detectors can also be harmful if not disposed of safely at a hazardous waste drop-off location.
